Yahoo ups its game with new Cocktails tools

Yahoo’s latest attempt at regaining a higher share in the web development market comes in the form of a new developer tool which aims to simplify the task of web designers and programmers by making it easier and faster to code different applications. Their new Cocktails tool consists of a mix of programming languages that saves time when a new application or program and makes coding on multiple systems a faster and easier task.

In an attempt to reverse the effects of their recent loss of market share on the web these days, Yahoo is giving it its best shot by releasing a brand new developer tool that aims to take the hassle out of coding applications on multiple systems.

Cocktails, Yahoo’s latest development in the world of web-building tools, masterfully combines a potpourri of HTML5, CSS3, Node.JS and Javascript, with the addition of a couple of clever tweaks by Yahoo’s engineers, all of which is likely to contribute to more efficient time-management for developers as these new tools make the task of writing a new program or application, a much quicker and straightforward affair.

To start off, Cocktails has already launched the first two tools; Mojito and Manhattan. On one hand Mojito is an environment-agnostic Javascript web application framework and then you have Manhattan, a cloud-based environment for Mojito-based applications.

Mojito is a time-saving tool that allows users to run things browser-side and server-side at the same time without having to write a different code for each, and speeds up the process of program-writing by working as both a model and a widget while containing the necessary code to write programs and also acting as a visual element of the user interface. Sounds impressive, right?

Manhattan, on the other hand, works by supporting Mojito-based apps running on Yahoo’s cloud by hosting the environment and adding traditional cloud features to the mix, like scalability, for example.

Web developers are bound to be intrigued by Yahoo’s promise of a slicker tool that set itself apart from others currently available on the market today. Have Yahoo just created a magic elixir and a massive future hit among frustrated developers struggling to write applications that must display on multiple devices? It won’t be long now to see what kind of an impact the new Cocktails mix makes on the web developer community and whether Yahoo has strung the right notes this time.
